Travel and your pet(s)

Traveling with your pet can be fun. However, there are a few things to remember, for your safety and the safety of your pet.

  1. While packing your suitcase also pack your pet's. Your pet will need a carrier and/or seatbelt (for restraining him/her in the car), food, water, toys, current Vet records, and most important, a collar with identification.
  2. Visibly place your name, address, and phone numbers, and a picture of your pet in the car. Perhaps taped (in an envelope) to the inside of a door. Also in this envelope, include your Vet's name and phone number, a name, address and phone number of a friend or relative at home and at your destination. Also tape this information to the carrier. If there is an accident or emergency, this information will be available for emergency personnel. Include instructions of how to take care of the pet if you are incapacitated and/or your pet is injured. Below is a sample that you can use to create your documentation.
